Botanical Talks

Are you a speaker-finder?

When you are putting together your next programme, you may be interested in slide-illustrated talks I give on gardening and botany.

I am experienced in lecturing to clubs and societies, both in UK and abroad (see In the Press) and have also given lectures in the University of Sheffield Division of Continuing Adult Education.

My botanical talks are basically gardening talks, with a bit more science for an audience which likes to know what makes plants tick. Like my gardening talks, my botanical talks contain a wealth of stunning images of plants. I currently have 2 botanical talks available:

  • The colours of the garden
  • Adaptations of desert plants

In the pipeline:  Wildflowers of the Canaries

My talks are on Powerpoint, and I bring my own data-projector and laptop.  But I ask that you provide a table, an extension lead (with 2 sockets) and a screen (or an expanse of plain white wall).

Good black-out of windows and sky-lights is essential if the lecture is to take place in daylight hours.

My fee is very reasonable.  Please contact me for details.

Availability for talks (after the end of the Covid-19 crisis):

April to early September, daytime and evening.

November, December and January, daytime only.

Unavailable February to March, and mid-September to end of October.

Please note, I am based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and travel by public transport.
